Complete 75% of the course work to earn your Citizen Law Certificate!

All programs are 100% online and utilize time-tested interactive learning methods (e.g. discussion boards, video explanations, chat sessions, and email) to facilitate learning in our virtual classroom on the highly-respected Moodle educational platform. These tools allow us to pay attention to each person's needs and essentially become their tutor in the course. Please do not let any computer, internet, or online education worries hold you back, we will get you up to speed starting with the basics if need be. There is no outside research to conduct and no tests, quizzes, or grades to worry about. This is not like some class or seminar; this is the highlights of the entire law school curriculum.

The material is truly interesting and fun, in addition to challenging, but the program, while sufficiently intensive, is not frustratingly difficult. Participants will not be overburdened; we simply focus on getting the necessary points across. A different topic will be covered everyday, at times this will be the legal topic of the day (perhaps a constitutional or property question pertaining to social security). Balance is given top priority in all of our programs so we never spend too much or too little time on any one point. The goal is for participants to get it, but not to get bored with it. How it works is simple. For each lesson participants choose to read and/or watch a video about an interesting situation involving pop culture characters (e.g. Clint Eastwood) that totals about 1-2 paragraphs and mirrors the long and tedious, but often amusingly intense and dysfunctional, law school cases. Participants then analyze what they have read/watched, answer a few related questions, and post their response to the discussion board.

Their fellow participants from all over the U.S. then respond to what they have written, and they do the same. Additionally, their instructor will challenge their opinions and sometimes ask them to argue an alternative side or angle to help make their conclusions stronger! If they have any questions, they can post them onto the question board where everyone can see their question and the instructor's response, or they can email for a private answer. This process mirrors that of law school and similarly, the more you give, the more you get! Participants learn from their instructor and from each other's ideas and mistakes, just like in law school, something everyone should be a part of. No one ever gave retirees an outlet to apply their experience that molds their thinking and no one ever brought them together, until now. We welcome the great diversity of age and career/life experiences to keep our learning environment strong!

Cost

17-week program $399/person ($249 Through 11/15/2012).

Great value- There are no books or any other materials to purchase for the programs. Nowhere else can you learn the basics of what is taught in a very expensive law school education in fun and entertaining terms. This is an investment you will reap benefits from for the rest of your life.
